To My Son

To My Son

A Poem by redthai

To My Son…Jamal..

A boy, a beautiful boy

Hiding self beneath heavy cloak of confused anger

lost in lies and uncertainty

Look! Your nose is like the mighty pyramids of Egypt

Look here I tell you, look at your reflection

And see all this beauty I see

A boy a beautiful boy

Flaring nostrils like the river Ganges

Like the mighty dark Demerara

Like the majestic rolling Essequibo

A boy a beautiful boy

Shoulder’s eagle wide like the Pakarimus ranges

Giving way to solid arrogant chest

Flowing down to flat rippled stomach

Into pillars of stance like mighty oaks

Driven deep into gods earth

A boy what a beautiful boy
