Not Just A Word

Not Just A Word

A Poem by Anne Lockhart

Have you ever felt guilt deep in your soul?

Its silent whisper incessantly grows,

harassing your conscience ‘til truth be told

replaying the message that “no one knows.”

Distorting, deceiving, devilish lies

Attempting to salvage your precious pride

Be wary, be wise, listen - your heart cries.

Choose the path that is narrow, not the wide.

Your soul is free when you admit your sin

The decision is yours " you make the call

Will you humble yourself and look within?

Search deep in your heart and confess it all

Forgiveness always leaves your heart mended

Joy returns when the battle has ended.

Lovely poem. I like the theme. Yes, very true ... "soul's free when we admit our sin" you know what, we can't stop making sins, more we try stopping sins, more we find get trapped in it so, it happens. We gotta walk with it, this wicked world taking us to the world of sinister world. What a lovely concept you came up with. Well done! Keep on!
