She CriesA Poem by Anne LockhartI really have a heart for people that are hurting. This was just my way of reaching out to them somehow. Even though I use "she," this also applies to guys too. It’s like one thing after the other. The pain she feels never seems to cease Every day fresh tears fall down her face She’ll scrunch her eyes and sit in any corner of her room Even her pillow is wet most nights.
She feels like no one can hear her. The question that never fades is, “When will it end?” Can’t someone see through her? The fake smile fools everyone except herself. She’ll laugh with you and have fun, but deep down… She has a secret, and she’s silently crying out. “How are you?” And the answer will be the same every time: “I’m fine.”
Everyone goes on with their lives, but she feels left behind. No one sees it, and she fears no one ever will. And so she’ll cry again, this time wrapping her arms around her stomach to stop choking on the tears. The despair is deep and the hurt is great. No one could understand.
But that’s where she’s wrong. Someone does see, and someone does understand. Only one man can feel her pain. He can because he went through the same thing. In fact, he went through everything. How deep his love is for her, and how he longs to take her hurt away. His name is Jesus, and He could flip her world upside down if she let Him. Because He is the one who wipes away her tears. He is the one who keeps her head above the raging sea. He is the one who held her every time she cried. He is the one… the one that was there when no one
else was. ~Red Rose © 2013 Anne LockhartAuthor's Note
