Never ForgetA Poem by Anne LockhartImage is not mine.Let’s go
back to the place where we dreamed - Where pirates still existed and men were gentlemen. Let’s go back to that place Oh - don’t you remember it? Women were dressed in gowns and held their chins high. Don’t ask why - Simply remember.
The time when dreams could take you to places you had never been When cannons were fired and carriages road atop those cobblestone streets Where we used to pen letters by candlelight to our lover (why, you remember.) And if by chance you were a merchant’s daughter, you were lucky.
Now, I see it in your eyes - Yes! You know what I am talking about. That place - That place never stopped existing, you see. Your heart knows how to get there, just put your hand over your chest and close your eyes. It is not hard to see it - Ships sailing in the open sea; Maybe you can even hear those scoundrels singing A Pirate’s Life For Me. Never forget that place - nay, Do you not remember? It is also where you met her. Golden curls and a red silk dress. Lace around the chest and dazzling green eyes. Yes, I see it… You do
remember. ~Red Rose © 2013 Anne LockhartFeatured Review
