My Starling

My Starling

A Poem by redhors

Little starling

Remove your precious wing from this trap;

It keeps you from the freedom of the skies.

Danger is hiding and waiting for you

If you don’t succeed.

A cat’s paw could easily swipe

And your shimmering feathers would be scattered

Across the ground

Like ashes.

Your soul will rise up through the sky

And find a place as a spark among the stars.

If I could do it myself, I would

But it is not scripted.

Heaven helping with earthly problems

Leads to the end of free will.

Heaven helping with earthly problems leads to the end of free will. Raises the question: Why pray? Isn't part of our free will the ability to ask and hopefully receive divine intervention?

Those last two lines are fantastic.

Free will is a lovely mess but at least it's our lovely mess.

You write good and stuff.
