A Trilogy on the Nature of Souls (TRIGGER WARNING)A Poem by Westminster AbbeyHappy Halloween!
I. Demon-Child (My Release)
Blood. The tearing of flesh The sting of the warm liquid hitting cold air, summoning the demon inside me White stained red - or is it red stained white? - is the ground on which I stand The black inside me threatens to devour my existence - What existence? To devour my heart - What heart? To devour my soul - What soul? It already has. I put the blood to my lips and take a long, satisfying drink The warmth drips down my chin as it drips down my throat Red meets black in a roar of fury and a moment of peace I laugh. I am filled with joy, after all The others may call me names - demon-child, antichrist, Lucifer - but I will stand here and laugh This is my release. II. Angelic Soul (Save Me) Save me. The demon inside me has taken hold and I am weak I scream for help I scream in terror I scream in pain but no one can hear me Can you hear me? Can you see me? Am I real? Or has the black covered the white? A stain that is impossible to erase? So fragile, so weak, so frail This is who I am I am nothing I have been beaten, broken, destroyed, annihilated, my existence completely wiped away tossed aside like a broken plaything This is who I am This is my existence Save me. III. Human Being (I Will Fight) No. This is not me I will not stand for this I refuse to let you control me like a marionette I am a human being I will not stay idle while demons run rampant No more black No more red No more white Just me. What gives you the right to barge in and take control? Who died and made you king? Certainly not me So get out, leave me be If you don't, I will fight I will fight to my last breath I will not stay idle I've had quite enough I will fight you until you leave or I am destroyed I will not be destroyed I will not submit And I. Will. Fight.
