A Trilogy on the Nature of Souls (TRIGGER WARNING)

A Trilogy on the Nature of Souls (TRIGGER WARNING)

A Poem by Westminster Abbey
"

Happy Halloween!

"
I. Demon-Child (My Release)
Blood.
The tearing of flesh
The sting of the warm liquid hitting cold air,
summoning the demon inside me
White stained red
- or is it red stained white? -
is the ground on which I stand
The black inside me threatens to devour my existence
- What existence?
To devour my heart
- What heart?
To devour my soul
- What soul?
It already has.
I put the blood to my lips and take a long, satisfying drink
The warmth drips down my chin as it drips down my throat
Red meets black in a roar of fury and a moment of peace
I laugh.
I am filled with joy, after all
The others may call me names -
demon-child,
antichrist,
Lucifer -
but I will stand here and laugh
This is my release.

II. Angelic Soul (Save Me)
Save me.
The demon inside me has taken hold and I am weak
I scream for help
I scream in terror
I scream in pain
but no one can hear me
Can you hear me?
Can you see me?
Am I real?
Or has the black covered the white?
A stain that is impossible to erase?
So fragile, so weak, so frail
This is who I am
I am nothing
I have been beaten, broken, destroyed, annihilated,
my existence completely wiped away
tossed aside like a broken plaything
This is who I am
This is my existence
Save me.

III. Human Being (I Will Fight)
No.
This is not me
I will not stand for this
I refuse to let you control me like a marionette
I am a human  being
I will not stay idle while demons run rampant
No more black
No more red
No more white
Just me.
What gives you the right
to barge in and take control?
Who died and made you king?
Certainly not me
So get out, leave me be
If you don't, I will fight
I will fight to my last breath
I will not stay idle
I've had quite enough
I will fight you until you leave or I am destroyed
I will not be destroyed
I will not submit
And I. Will. Fight.

Author's Note

Westminster Abbey
So I meant to upload this last night, but I got a bit sidetracked because the friend with whom I was trick-or-treating wound up staying the night.
So here it is, my spooky little Halloween thing.

Here's how I envision it. There are five realms of existence:
Heaven (the place of angels)
The Veil (the place of ghosts)
Earth (the place of humans)
Purgatory (the place of monsters)
Hell (the place of demons)
Heaven and Hell are always fight, and since Earth is the halfway point, humans sometimes get caught up in the fight as well. You may have heard of possession. If so, then good. When a demon possesses a human, they do so forcefully. They take complete control over the human's body. The human may see what they are doing, but have no power to stop it. Sometimes, the process can make the human weak, so that if the demon were ever to leave, the human would die. In other cases, such as this one, the human may decide to fight back. If they are strong enough, they could exorcise the demon from the inside. If they are not, they may be destroyed in the process, and the demon will have a body all to it's own.

Authors Note (In the authors note): I portrayed the angel as weak in this poem, and for that I am sorry. I would just like to put out there that I in no way think of angels as being weak or helpless. They are warriors. I only did this for the sake of the poem. I portrayed the demon in an evil light, which is 100% what I believe demons to be like. I portrayed this human as a fighter, as I hope I would be in his situation.

This is a wonderful and ambitious piece, bordering on epic with its deep concept and intense narration. It's hard not to get caught up in the raw emotion of these words. Great work :)

I actually like that you portrayed the angel as weak. It shows all things have fears and doubts. I love how every part of this little trilogy flowed into the next and how the human, angel, and demon "interacted" with each other. Very chilling and perfect for Halloween, even if it's already over. Kind of reminds me of my situation and others I've heard of.

Great write!

Ps. Sorry I didn't read this sooner. I was planning too then a bunch of family drama happened and...yeah. I hate to admit but I forgot about it. :/

But I read it now and loved it! :)
