"Beauty"A Poem by Rosezelene ErsaWith so many different ideas on beauty, it's hard to be original. There's too many judges and not enough fair evaluation on the subject. Here's my view.Dusty flesh Clings to my bones, Singing of freedom yet Always chained to conform To your time worn ideas Of Beauty.
Your eyes are unforgiving, Making up flaws That never existed But still cause That little red beating drum In my chest to dry up and crumble Until I can’t feel it At all.
Why do you want to make me feel Inferior Ugly Denied Alone? Can’t you see you shouldn’t undo Me, the one who Has always been your Unchangeable rock?
I am unmoving; DESPITE the wind and Endless torrents of rain That beat down on me And wear out my face- The very face you think Should be Plastered in white And slathered with pink, Just to show my “Inner Beauty” So everyone can see.
Is there even a point To bring that “Inner” out?
Its right where it belongs; Inside, So no one can take it away And throw it Onto the road, To be trampled by the Tactless judges Of the world. © 2015 Rosezelene ErsaAuthor's Note
