Charlemagne

Charlemagne

A Poem by Rosezelene Ersa
"

A companion lost to the stormy seas saves his prior owner from a watery death.

"

Beneath the ever cresting waves

Where ocean foam comes down

I lost my poor sweet Charlemagne,

Right off the starboard bow.

---------------------

My ship was tossed,

She rocked around,

And yes, I lost my hold.

Yet when she broke,

I jumped and fell

On sodden fur

And salt.

----------------

And by the time he pulled me out,

I saw the horrid truth.

His paws were gone,

Replaced with webs…

-----------------

What had become of Charles?

-----------------

He paddled, he plodded,

Dropped me off at the shore,

And the gossip abounds;

“She was saved by a water hound!”
