The Shadow Stealer

The Shadow Stealer

A Poem by Rosezelene Ersa
"

a silly little poem about a childhood dream.

"

One day the shadow stealer

Who lives next to me

Took the shadow of a pine

And put it in mine.

Ever since

I have smelled like a tree

And let me tell you,

That is a hard scent to explain.

My brother calls me

The “tree hugger”

Even though

I don’t think trees

Are very nice to

Hug,

And the shadow stealer

Laughs when

She sees me walk

By.

It’s all her fault,

I tell you,

That I smell like a pine-

For once she pinches a shadow

she slips it into mine.

This made me smile. First the concept of a "shadow stealer" is interest, but then the shadow stealer does childish/funny things, and then you expand on what having a pine-tree shadow would be like.

I think the part I like best is how the stolen shadow maintains the pine scent. It would be cool to have a character ability or a spell that 'smelled' shadows.
