Anonymous Peculiars

Anonymous Peculiars

A Story by Madison
"

Just a story I wrote one day in my spare time...

"

She walks the streets unnoticed.

An outsider, cut off from the rest of the world.

No one sees her crying as she patters along the concrete.

“What is the point of being here if nobody sees me.”

She allows herself to be lonely.

She hides in a dark building and fire licks her fingertips.

He stumbles out of the house with bruises and scars.

All types of scars.

He has nowhere to go.

He walks along the street.

No one notices his bruises or scars.

No one else is like him.

He is an outsider.

Or so he thought.

The fire dances off her fingertips.

She smiles in the dim light.

She hears footsteps.

She makes the light vanish.

She is swallowed by darkness.

Her greatest fear.

He walks around the dark building.

As he walks, the light gets darker and darker.

He hears crying.

A cry of an Anonymous Peculiar.

The footsteps get closer and closer.

She cries harder.

“It’s ok….” She hears.

“It’s ok….”

He senses a connection between this girl.

She is one of them.

He smiles in the darkness.

He places an arm around her and she snuggles into him.

She feels a strong, warm hand on her shoulders.

She moves closer into the hold.

“Do you know where we can get some light?” He asks.

She thinks about her fire.

She feels safe with this boy.

She smiles and casts flames from her fingers.

She now takes the time to look at his face.

He has tangled brown hair and crystal blue eyes.

He has a large cut on his face.

She casts her other hand over his cut.

He smiles.

“Are you thirsty?” he asks.

She nods.

He pulls out two bottles and water starts gushing out of his hands.

She smiles.

“You’re an Anonymous Peculiar.” She says.

“Indeed I am… Indeed I am.” He says.

He curls back her curly brown hair and gazes into her deep brown eyes.

“We are probably the only ones left.” He says.

“You and me against the world.” She replies.

He smiles and places his head on her shoulder.

She holds his hand.

Without thinking, he kisses her.

She is filled with an instant glow.

All his worries are taken away.

They pull away and smile shyly.

“I’m so glad I met you.” She says.

“Same here.” He says.

“I love you.” She says.

“Same here.” He says.

“Should we leave?” She says.

“Yes. Although we should come here more often.” He says.

She laughs and kisses him on the cheek.

“Come on.” She says.

It’s night time, and the world is filled with a little more happiness.

She takes him to her home.

“You live here?” he asks.

“Yep” She replies.

“On your own? No Parents?” He asks.

“Yes.”

“Why?” he asks.

“My Parents are Anonymous Peculiar Killers. They have killed over 50 Anonymous Peculiars. And seeing as I was one, by APK law, if your child is an Anonymous Peculiar, You cannot kill it. You must give your child away. I got given away to my great auntie, but she died when I was 6.” She says.

“So you’ve been living on your own for the last 10 years?” he asks.

“Yes, I cope pretty well, paying all the bills and cooking my own food. My great auntie left behind a lot of money, So that’s put me in good stead for the long run.” She says. “Do you have anywhere to go?”

“No, My Parents where killed, and the killer hurt me quite badly, hence the cuts and bruises.”

“I Insist you live here.” She says.

“Thanks, I really appreciate it.” He replies.

She smiles and kisses him on the cheek.

“Should I sleep on the couch?” He asks.

“You can sleep with me.”She replies with a twinkle in her eye.

He laughs.

“Sure!!!”He says happily.

She checks the time and yawns.

“We should be getting to bed anyway.” She says.

They both walk upstairs and get into bed.

“Goodnight.” He says.

She kisses him on cheek and closes her eyes.

For once they don’t feel like Anonymous Peculiars.

They feel like real people, with no powers.

Real People.

10 years later…

It’s War.

“Get Down!” He says.

A gun shot penetrates the wall they are standing behind, so all that is left is crumbling brick.

“I’m scared..” she says.

He holds her tight and tries to comfort her.

“You were scared when I first met you and I thought you were the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. Also, you are an Anonymous Peculiar. My Anonymous Peculiar.”

She forces out a smile.

He grabs her hand and runs from the killers.

“What did I do to deserve this?” She forces out between sobs.

“You don’t deserve it.” He replies.

He stares into her wet eyes, and before he knew it, she was kissing him.

Time seemed to stand still.

Nothing else mattered.

Just this one kiss, needed all the time in the world.

Because it was their final, happy kiss.

She felt a pierce through her body.

She felt her stomach.

Her fingers came away with blood.

She falls away from the kiss.

“I am so sorry.” She cries.

She lands with a thud on the rubble-ridden floor.

He kneels down beside her.

“Hey, Hey, It’ll be alright, you will survive.” He says.

He looks beside her.

A bullet lies quivering next to a piece of photo frame. He pulls the frame out.

It’s a photo of them, arm in arm, with a smile on their face.

He can’t take it anymore.

He’s lying on her body crying his eyes out.

“I’m losing a lot of blood.” She whispers.

The sound of her helpless voice snaps him back into reality.

He rips off his shirt and wraps it around her wound. He gives her water.

She tries to stand up.

“Could you still use your powers?” He asks.

“ You don’t know how much damage one tiny bit of fire that I can’t control do.” She says worryingly.

“If it’s enough to find some unit of care for you and enough to end this stupid war, just cast this fire.” He says with determination.

She clicks her trembling fingers and it’s chaos.

The killers are blown to the ground. They die.

Explosions are happening everywhere you look.

He picks her up and runs to his tiny boat he had kept at the edge of the island they lived on.

He carefully places her down in the boat and starts rowing.

Away from his past life, Away from chaos,

Away from everything.

Just In case you’re wondering….

She made a full recovery but is left with a permanent emotional scar.

He hugged her with relief.

They started a family and told their children not to make the same stupid mistakes that they did.

The most valuable piece of advice:

Don’t be like the normal people,

You’re just too peculiar.

This was to fast... I liked it, but everything happened so fast...
Try slowing it down and it would be a lot better, I didn't see anything. What I mean by that is you need to put more information in your story...
I like it a ton... Just pace yourself and don't go to fast...
Great job!
