Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by red-juliet

Prayer

Let the cool rain take the heat off my skin

And coat me in your grace

The stings of the oppression be numbed

And good be upon those who deride me

Let my heart not be troubled

But set alight with your everlasting flame

That had once burned with passion in me

But now flickers in despondency

For I am small, and the fears are immense

But your reliable love even more so

I cannot even begin to catalogue your mercies

Reflecting on them keeps me up late into the hours of darkness

Where I know that I am safe in your presence

And that no harm shall befall me

Fortify me so I can rise again

Breathe again

Feel again

Live again

Sing your matchless praises again

Not because I deserve it

But by your grace that carried me thus far

For you alone are the beats of my heart

My power

My source

And I am worthless without you

Amen

A beautiful and hopeful prayer. I like this prayer. A more up to date prayer for today. A excellent prayer and poem.
