Summer

Summer

A Poem by red-juliet

How i remember church summercamp when i was 13.

"

Summer

Let’s let it be like old times

Call on lumo green backpacks and oversalted boerewors

Sunlight breaking through the leaves onto the rushing of the waterfall

And your half-naked body

And her screams at me

Bring forth the muffled drumbeat

So like our heartbeats as we ran

Moonlight didn’t betray your indifferent intentions

And your black t-shirt

And my oversalted tears

It’s funny how I try to laugh about it now

Convincing myself my thoughts are childish

As immature and promising as that of a young girl

And her warped ideals

And I am a young girl

Memories play sadly through my head like a song

Sadly yet strangely comforting

Of morning coffee and the acrid taste of oranges

And blue in the blue blue shade

And the blue blue shade of your brown eyes

Enough about you, I chasten

Days drag by like sour caterpillars, mocking me

Saying: look at her, look at her

She who dares to dream

She who dares

To hope

I loved this stanza, this is quite the amazing read.
