Reflection of a killer...continuedA Chapter by Rebel_angelThe full moon was low in the night sky. Thousands of stars gently sparkled above. A perfect night, and in through Scarlet’s eyes it was even better. She saw every small detail around her. How the old wooden house on the edge of the road slanted in and out at every new piece of wood. How an ant was scurrying along the path. How an owl was sat in the tree watching and waiting for it’s pray. Scarlet thought to herself as she walked the long and winded path towards the field. She realised after all the places of the world she had seen and experienced in her life she always ended up in a place just like Port Navas, a quite countryside on the edge of a river, little farm houses and a beautiful cottage or two. She never really could figure out why, maybe it was because the little cottages reminded her of her past in some way. Maybe it was the smell of the grass swaying in the breeze reminded her of her father. But whatever it was she always felt at home in places like this especially at night. The night was hers, child of the night her mother called her because even as a child she would never sleep at night. Her father said that’s why she was most suited to the new life. And maybe that was the reason she loved it here because it reminded her of her aim, of her pure passion for death. By the time she had made it to the field it was midnight and it wasn’t exactly peek time for people to be out in Port Navas. So scarlet grabbed her mobile and dialled Jake Pritch’s number. He answered on the second ring, his voice gruff and muffled. “What?” “It’s me, I just wanted to see you. I thought maybe you could come back to mine tonight. But if I woke you don’t..” He cut her off before she could finnish. “No babe It’s fine.” This time he sounded pleased with himself. “Where do you want to meet?” “Meet me by the field we can walk back to mine then.” “Give me 20 minutes” Scarlet flipped the phone shut and rolled her eyes. Twenty minutes to wait. She laid on the grass and gazed at the stars. Midnight, meaning the first kill of the day. © 2009 Rebel_angelAuthor's Note
