We're Still Us.

We're Still Us.

A Poem by Rebecca Hope Rouston

life never stops moving
feels as though it robs us of time
but when it robs and we blame life
it's simply the depression of time we lost
happiness makes time fly
and a longing day lasts for years
my mind can't move at a steady pace
to where i don't need to point the finger
i love when what i've worked for
is so generously rewarding me
and i use the robbed hours of night
to then discover moon light
time was taken away from us
a year has passed us quickly
which makes me believe i was happy
i'm tired of being silent
it shouldn't have to hurt to speak of you
life never stops and in this life
i want you to keep coming home to me

When a vague longing, like a dim homesickness, awakens in the bosom of the queen of of the air, it spreads its wings as if embracing the air and starts boldly toward the sky, frightened, scared, proud.

We move through in much the same way eagles take a flight. Longing is the force that propels us forward. Thrusting initially with our very strength. Yet it keeps reminding us of what we left behind and we had to look back and embrace the truth that we have moved to another time, another place otherwise, we will not go very far.

I love the way you use the free verse form of writing. Your have way with words that easily conveys emotion.

"happiness makes time fly

Truer words have never been spoken! :)

A well painted piece. I can see and certainly feel the emotion and devotion pouring through this piece.
Another beautiful write :)

This is romantic and sweet. This sounds like the summary of a persons life over many years....?

always my pleasure :D
So many poignant, perfect phrases, but simply loved: "Life never stops and in this life I want you to keep coming home to me." A longing, loving plea. Beautiful and honest.
