Anatomy.

Anatomy.

A Poem by Rebecca Hope Rouston

Somehow I've found a way to fall in love again

A man can hold my heart in his hand

and clench his fingers so tight to where

it completely stops beating

And I can feel again

I can breathe after my lungs are filled

with smoke and not enough oxygen

to even keep consciousness

The air has never tasted cleaner

I'm so lost in a place not familiar

but I know exactly where I am

Every chemical has sunk into my skin

and ran through my veins

I've swallowed enough to be lethal

You're the only intoxication I want

I'm comfortable and you've taken everything

When I know to expect less

I'm gladly disappointed to hear I'm still beautiful

Thank you

for reconstructing my anatomy

Not a bad poem. The content was very good and it was interesting to read. My only suggestion would be to break up the poem more. Place parts into stanzas and seperate the stanzas with a space. Right now, it looks like a wall of text and that is hindering the poem. I do think breaking the poem up will allow the poem to reach its full potential.

Wasn't sure what to expect in this one based on the title. What I found was a really clever metaphor. Well constructed, clear imagery in the analogy and I can feel the emotion behind it. Nicely done :)
