Staircase.

Staircase.

A Poem by Rebecca Hope Rouston
"

We have ended; But the end was unwanted.

"

She runs down the halls

And comes to the staircase

There he is so elegantly

Possibly oblivious to her

She gently slips her hand

Deep into her pocket

Her fingers grip the note

That could end it all

She takes a step down

Then quickly retreats

She hasn't spoken to him

Since they took her away

She trembles as she remembers

The look they first exchanged

A tear rolls down her face

For this was where she stood

She looks up from the ground

And begins down the staircase

This was where they met

This is where they'll end

A beautifully tragic poem that seems so enchanted. Clear story of love and loss, moving on even through the pain of remorse. The picture you create is so vivid, I just wanted to read it again and again. I must add it to my favorites!
