Staircase.A Poem by Rebecca Hope RoustonWe have ended; But the end was unwanted. She runs down the halls And comes to the staircase There he is so elegantly Possibly oblivious to her She gently slips her hand Deep into her pocket Her fingers grip the note That could end it all She takes a step down Then quickly retreats She hasn't spoken to him Since they took her away She trembles as she remembers The look they first exchanged A tear rolls down her face For this was where she stood She looks up from the ground And begins down the staircase This was where they met This is where they'll end © 2008 Rebecca Hope RoustonReviews
