Tragedy in Paradise

Tragedy in Paradise

A Poem by Rebecca

My tragedy in paradise.

My reason to live,

My reason to die.

There is no way to justify

My tragedy in paradise.

You know the way of wine and class

All the ‘proper’ ways to act.

All forms of behavior down by fact.

You know this ‘correct’ way of life

My tragedy in paradise.

I come from the land of beer and pretzels.

Getting hit on in the grocery store,

I stumble and I fall a lot.

I hurt so much and was forced to fight

My tragedy in paradise.

I break the glass you teach me to use,

I slip up and grab the wrong fork.

I spill the drinks and get food on my face.

I’m wrong for you, but can’t help but like

The tragedy in paradise.

Because, it’s still mine.
