Once Upon A Memory

Once Upon A Memory

A Poem by Rebecca

Once upon a memory, a time from when I loved,

My knight would sing to me as I fell asleep.

He'd brush my hair out of my face,

And trace pictures on my back.

Once upon a memory, a boy would write to me,

Make me blush at his every action.

This boy.. This man, would fight for my rights,

Something, no person ever did for me so truly.

Once upon a memory, an angel broke my heart.

For reasons I guess he couldn't control..

He was taken from my safety bubble,

Now, it's popped and I am.. Alone.

Once upon a memory, I lost myself to this world.

My heart is still bound to this past life,

A life that use to be my own.

Now, I live without that comfort.

Once upon a memory, I wanted to remember,

Remember the things that made me smile.

I have loved, and then I have lost,

But... It's just a memory.

This reminded me of 'Unfinished Memories' by Eowyn. It's a wonderfully satisfying poem, you have...but I think here: "A life that use to be my own."
I'm guessing it's a typo? Anyway, it caught my eye and I'd thought I'd let you know.
Great write. [:

This is beautiful, but in my opinion, the first and second stanza to switch places with each other. Because the first says 'man' while the second says 'boy'. They should be switched.

I loved it.
