If

If

A Poem by Rebecca

What if I wanted to break?

Fight 'til it's all put at stake?

Forget what was real or fake,

Oh, the things I'd do for your sake.

What if I decided to cry?

Finally crack from these lies?

Let all around me pass by,

Leaving myself only the sky.

What if I let myself hate?

Giving you that horrible fate?

With which your life would end by date,

And, not at all, make you wait.

What if I did come to die?

Take a shot to the heart with a final sigh,

Give myself off until the blood ran dry,

Or just stay in the fire to fry.

What if I was dead?

Right now you'd laugh on my tomb's head.

Such a passing, I doubt you'd dread,

Letting the lifeless life become led.

If only I was like that,

A free moving spirit, up to bat.

Wouldn't have to look at all those rats,

Who quickly run at the sight of a cat.
