My Best

My Best

A Poem by Rebecca

I see you now,

Distant and naive.

Someone whom I once knew,

But fell in their own denial.

Can I always remain that watchful eye?

The gardener of flowers?

No, for I have much more to do,

So I rely on the rain and sun to care for you.

I gave my best try,

And I admit I'm not too good,

Less than you believed,

My best was less than perfect.

It's all over now,

I've taken my umbrella and left the key,

I'm not coming back here,

So accept it.
