Life Passes ByA Story by RebeccaI had a dream in a park, my eyes opened and I was in a beautiful garden. Birds were chirpping and everything just seemed so happy. I remember standing up and feeling the wind push against me. I closed my eyes and spread my arms out, enjoying it's cooling touch.
Then suddenly, the sun dimmed and the wind didn't feel so calming. The birds disappeared and the garden began to wither before my eyes. I lost that feeling of peace and a cold feeling of pain and hatred replaced it. It began to rain as darkness consumed the sky.
I ran, trying to get out of the rain, at first I tried running under a tree but lightning began to strike. So I changed my mind and just lied on the ground. My hands were over my neck and I felt scared..
It was cold and I was wet, and even when the rain began to stop and the beautiful garden began to appear again I refused to get up. Part of me knew that even if it's fine now, it will get bad again, eventually.
(How is it that we continue to be so optimistic about life even when we know it will eventually go downhill. Life is like a rollercoaster, don't we all eventually want to get off?)
After a long while I got up, only to see that through my indecisiveness and frightning thoughts the lives around me had moved on. 'Life waits for no man.' I sat up and watched the lives around me, watching love, loss, family... Anything that could and does happen.
I got up and began to admire the garden for it's beauty, I wanted to remember it, just in case it left my sight again.
Suddenly part of me felt ok. I began to walk, not sure where I planned on going. I watch the sun go down, and I closed my eyes as I enjoyed another gush of wind against my face. © 2009 Rebecca |
