I'll Dance AloneA Poem by RebeccaI thought it'd be fine, and you'd be ok, But in my attempts to forget, you aren't. Now you are dying, slowly I know it, And I cannot do anything but sit back and watch.
My heart's ripping out, and I'm screaming for you. In the dead of the night I run, and run. Hoping that I'll find the cure to this tragedy, But all the time knowing that won't happen.
And now you lie there, unawake and unknowing, That any day the plug could be pulled and you could Disappear Forever. I look right through those soon cold dead eyes, I know you for what you are, but still I cannot help but care.
We danced, and danced, Dance each night away, But now... you cannot move, So now I dance alone.
What happens will happen, but friend I have a life. And for now I cannot follow you always as I said, He needs me, she needs me, they all need me, I'm sorry.
If death is what will come, then it will come. But if life comes, I'll be waiting. So for now, I promise you this, and this only:
I'll dance with you in death, but for now I'll dance alone. © 2009 RebeccaReviews
