My DepartureA Poem by RebeccaHoping for an answer, scars scream in despair, Eyes that burn with questions, though that is not too rare. Dreamworld creature come to me, tell me of my past, Open my eyes so truth can be seen, how long this life will last. I'm seeing those who 'gave a damn', don't even really care, They lie to me with selfish hopes, I will no longer bare. You are my friend, or you are not, it's black or white my dear. You shouldn't need to think about it, the answer should be clear. Dear child in my sleep, whose eyes are red as blood, You smile through your tears, And though you do know what you've become, Your soul you do not fear. Come sit with me, little one, I'll tell a story to you. It is sad, it's not long, but it is very true. It's about a girl, much like yourself, And the demon she became, Please understand, what she once felt, She would never be the same. A young girl, covered in happiness, her eyes shined bright. But she was hit with blood-stained knives, and she began to fight. She craved the blood, the light of all, But she did not wish to take. With every day, she was tempted more. Until one day, she caved, And pleased the hungry sore. She lost trust, friends, and love, And fell through life alone. She took her life and, soaked in blood, She fell to Hell alone. That girl was me, dear child of red, And here we are today. I'm the girl who lost her head, And put her life at bay. I did not say goodbye, I had no reason. This is my departure. © 2024 Rebecca |
