haha This was great; it put in my mind an image of an overly botoxed Hollywood star who is attempting to stop the hands of time from marching across her face. Then, I looked again and saw a more somber metaphor...the idea of a woman of 55 having no laugh lines because she has never truly experienced laughter. Two totally different takes with totally different emotions. I think this is what makes this piece so great.

How very true, Rebecca. The lines come whether you laugh or cry, but if you do neither, what kind of life have you lived? One without love, that's for sure! I really liked this one a lot!

Thank you, Joyce! I'm glad you enjoyed it:-)
Truly horrifying. I think you are attacking both the modern artifice of cosmetics and the way people lead their lives, so grimly, so sadly, without pausing to think about the happiness that life can bring. Very thought provoking senryu.
