SuggestionsA Poem by MatthewTrying to run from a suggestion can be the hardest thing to do.
I thought I ran away
Turned out I just ran in circles You knew from the start that I wasn’t going anywhere So you led me on with suggestions You never warned me, but I never listen For what it’s worth I won’t be here long Just long enough to get the courage to run again See me through Loved and long I’m so far away from home No matter, I’ll just turn around Facing the sun again Running down the same path You knew me from the start I can’t be saved from the likes of you You always thought you were right Passive aggressive, with a hint of arrogance I never meant to harm you I just suggest you leave me here I feel at home Long enough to be Hated and being I’m so close to home It doesn’t matter, I’ll be torn away With the sun blinding my eyes I’ll walk down that same old path Timid and crazy I can almost touch my home But that just doesn’t cut it You’ll tear me away with a whisper Your heavenly smile blinding my judgment I’ll just follow you down your corpse filled path Here I lay, on a bed and naked Your voice it sooths me if only for a moment Tainted thoughts, and distorted feelings guide me through Your suggestions never fail to mesmerize the simple minded I’ll stand here by your side as long as I’m wanted I can still remember that place How much I long for home © 2013 Matthew |
