Life of FearA Poem by MatthewThis poem is about the education system.
I pass the metal doors
On my way to the future Scanned across the body In order to allow fear Helping spread the word Of another story made to buy Blow away the helpers Corrupted and designed to die I watch the black horror box glow As it tells me to run and hide I walk to the future, deemed insecure By all the helpers, that try to infer I live my life Made from fear I try to control my life Even though I’m told to only act I walk through the back door Made of freedom I’m told to turn back Unless I want to suffer the consequence If I protest I’ll only be held back But if I choose my own path The world is bound to leave me behind Here I stand on the blue plush floor With a feeling that I’ll be getting more The man with a tie looks down and decides That if I’m to become one, I’ll need to choose a side How can I choose what to believe If I haven’t even seen what’s been given to me? I live this life made of choice In a constant fear being left behind © 2013 Matthew |
