Spite

Spite

A Poem by Matthew

Today I left instead
Better than what was there
It was horrid from the beginning
No longer a prisoner, but hey
I’m happy now, and there isn’t a thing you need to worry about
You decided that it was okay, it’s fine, nothing to be sad about

I’m so glad that you’re doing well
Your halo is still wrapped around your neck
One day I will pull you down
Take you off your cloud made of glass
Shatter your being with just one stone
Don’t want to insist, but it seems I must

Life is just grand
Seeing as it’s all what it seems
The end was a lie, and the middle was a sentence
I heard the needle finally drop, and I wonder what’s to come
Never will I listen to you again, your voice drones on and on, all the time expressing your hate
I’ll hold on til the very end, if only just to spite you

Your life is just a waste
You drift on through your sky made of stone
Your universe made of dirt
You life made of sand
Your love filled with gravel
Your beauty mixed with clay

I’m sorry, I’ve overstepped my boundaries again
Forgive me for being so bitter
Everything I needed is gone, but hey, at least you’re feeling better
I hope you enjoy your life filled with hate
I find it easy to stare up from my hole that you’ve happily dug for me
But I’ll hold on til the very end, if only just to spite you
