Funny

A Poem by Matthew
"

I'll leave the meaning to you guys.

"
I watch from afar

As the ships descend into the light

Funny how they never notice the man

Sitting calmly, chin in his hand

I melt in his gaze

I feel like I’m in a haze

Is he what he was meant to be

Or were the ships taken by a fiend

Never gaze directly into his face

Or else you’ll vanish without a trace

I grip the chair because I think I know

The man makes sure to go

The ships come out the other side

Funny how they never stray from his mind

The ocean is such a wide road

Yet they all take the same path

The man grins as they all follow through

If only they all knew

Sitting lazy in a trance

The ships then proceed to dance

Do I laugh or do I cry?

I find myself asking why

I sit in my chair

I watch from afar

The ships keep on sailing by

One by one, they keep on coming in

The man is still there

Watching while he ponders

His eyes slowly become fixed on a sight

I smile from the delight

A ship has gone astray from his gaze

The man shall no longer put him in a haze

The ship sails away from the light filled place

Darkness should swallow it whole

Funny how darkness can be brighter than the light
