"Wilderness Echoes"A Poem by masqued_museA poem I just wrote about John the Baptist..
Season of summer,
dry throats are parched. Measured by thunder, in each longing heart. Burning sun sears eyes, skin, and hands. Salt; pressed from tears, passion of a man. Illusions of desert; dance a mirage, his only pleasure, seduction of God. Kneel there before him; beneath molten skies. and if you implore him, you may be baptized. Lead you to water; take you with fire, to the presence of the Father, and His angelic choir. Dip you in splendor, drown you with love, make you the defender, of tears, sweat and blood. "Come see a Lamb; who wears holy shoes, For ears of the damned, I brings good news. And me; just a man, chaotic and loud. The voice in the land, that burns through the proud. Craving locusts and wild honey; I don filthy hide, to religion of money, I bring suicide. Repent; for above you, there's madness in the skies, Life is waiting to love you, I have gazed into His Eyes.... © 2011 masqued_museAuthor's Note
