Bye

Bye

A Poem by Reagan
"

For my dad, "Good night, sleep tight and pleasant dreams to you. Adios, au revoir, auf wiedersehen Good Night"

"
The last thing you said to me
For the longest time, I thought we never got to say goodbye- mutually
I leaned over and said, "Bye Daddy, I love you"
that was the last time I would ever see you

Thoughts have been racing through my head since you left
"I should have stayed," "I should have turned around,"
"Bye" the last thing you said before you left this earth
And I never heard you

I should feel privileged, lucky even
but being lucky would be to have you here to watch
me grow, learn, and for YOU to teach me things about the world
"There's no such thing as luck Reagan"

But I guess I am lucky
I was lucky to have had time with you
Lucky is having great memories, photos, and home movies
Lucky is remembering your voice and how you made me laugh everyday

"Bye"
You'll never truly be gone
there are pieces of you that shine through me
so, this isn't goodbye
just see you later...alligator
