Stasis

Stasis

A Poem by rmarrwrites
"

a period or state of inactivity or equilibrium

"
On quiet days
I chew a piece of bread
until it tastes sweet
then flavourless again
I stare at the wall
and beg the clock to
speed up
rewind
or simply drop its hands
altogether
I don't think of you
The last dregs of resentment
have long seeped into the
floorboards
as I slept
unaware
In their place
there is nothing
and all is still

Any and all feedback welcome and appreciated. The spelling of flavourless is intentional, I'm Canadian. The website wouldn't save my spacing between paragraphs for some reason.

I like your poem rmarr. The way that your well chosen, gentle, flowing style of writing suits the subject of the poem is very clever.
All the best,
Alan

Sometimes nothing is better than something, especially when that something is resentment.
