My Process

My Process

A Chapter by Richard B. Berry

Carrying burdens, nothing makes sense

I…need to decompress, analyze

Pray…seek help, understanding

I

Close my eyes, transform

My world

The outside world

Insignificant, burdensome

Over complicated

Behind my eyes, inside my mind

Universal communion unleashed

What was, what is, what could possibly be

All join, like alphabet soup

The readings never constant

Rhetorical, nonsensical, brutally logical

God speaks in riddles

Through ancestral emissaries

Friends from the past

Long lost loves

Behind these eyes, I create new fears and phobias

Wrestle with my guilt, my shame

Contemplate and justify my existence

Before my personal tribunal

Here I pray; for my family, for humanity

For forgiveness, for cleansing, for understanding

Another piece of the puzzle of life solved

I open my eyes

I am restored, if only temporarily
