1A Chapter by R. BartiletAn Introduction. I sat cross-legged with my elbows on my thighs on the motel
mattress while he, with his hands behind his head, laid back and let his eyes
focus on the odd texture of the ceiling. We wasting the night in silence. Much
needed, yet unwanted silence. Seconds turned into minutes, minutes to hours
until I finally broke it. “You’re not
happy here, aren’t you?” My voice was a soft whisper that travelled the dimly
lit room. There was no response -- nothing, except for a shift in the mattress.
“Here, with me?” I turned to find him sitting on the edge of the bed, his head
resting in his hands. He lets out a faint chuckle, one that lacked any trace of
humor, and stayed still. “I don’t
even know why I’m exactly here-- why we're here.” “Liam--” “I know, I
know." He pauses. "Give you hope in silence, right? As if it's easier.” © 2013 R. BartiletReviews
