One Flew East, One Flew West

One Flew East, One Flew West

A Story by R.Guy Behringer
"

A fan fiction at it's shortest.

"

With lungs on fire, we ascend slowly.

Breaking the surface tension, our eyes open wide.

We take great gulps of fresh anxiety and look around.

We squint our eyes against the bright light glaring

Off aqua green tiles and winced at the sudden cacophony

Layered over Bossa Nova elevator Muzak.

We watched giant white lab rats in dirty smocks and black boots

Slosh through our flooded cabbage patch, communicating with each other

Through the squeaks their soles make on the checkered ward.

They came armed with chromium and glass syringes full of emptiness.

They bend and stab those with knowing faces.

They bend and stab those with awareness and ideas.

Filling the crooked necks of the excited with their syrupy nothing.

Our vision now fading, we sink slowly.

They’re fogging us again.

Not yet gone, we hear a voice above the receding din.

It cuts through the fog and pierces our brain.

“I know the Devil’s name, Chief!”

“I know her f*****g name!”

Then…

Nothing...again.
