In the Back Garden

In the Back Garden

A Poem by R.Guy Behringer
"

Children hunt for a garden tiger.

"

In the back garden

We played through the night

Our very own world

Under the blue orb light

Charli in a pith

With a shotgun broom

Me in a turbine

And a scimitar too

We hunted a tiger

In the jungles of Rangoon

Run Run Run!

The tiger found us first

He came bounding through the grass

caught us off guard

But scared Charli the worst

She went running for the tent

Her pith and broom in a pile

The tiger padded through the grass

Tongue hanging out in a smile

Come back

Come back

Come back Charli!

Don’t quit now

It’s only Bazzy

We dressed him in my PJs

Remember?

Later in the tent

Mom poured tea for three

Brave tiger hunters

Gunga Me, Charli McGee

And a puppy dressed like a tiger

Basil
