Freefall

Freefall

A Poem by Rafeeq Hawkins

I had a vision of inner peace,
of the eternal spirit which lies underneath,
as my eyes beheld this tranquil masterpiece,
the pain began to release.

It was like the coming of a once forgotten friend,
or the scent of roses carried on a strong east wind,
a tear in the fabric of space as time slowly bends,
culminating into everlasting beauty again.

I felt something like serenity,
which ensnared my heart so very blatantly,
replacing the fear I held onto desperately,
with a simple moment of clarity.

It was in this moment, that I finally saw you,
your reflection clearly visible in waters deep blue,
the sun rising through a faint Crimson hue,
has the power to make it all seem true.

My forever, my undying, my absolute,
I can hear your voice even when all sound is mute,
my heart now attuned, my senses acute,
so this is how it feels to free fall with no parachute...

Very well done!! It was very lighthearted but striking. I like the somewhat different tones you threw in there. 👏🏽👏🏽

You write lightly, but with gravity... well done!
