DesireA Poem by Syed Musab RazaOn a rough furious day when the sun was gazing with fire A small innocent girl sneaked inside the store to quench her desire
Drenched in the overwhelming thirst, she raised her hand And progressed towards the shelf where leftover bottles stand,
Struggling to find some droplets in the bottles of sweet beverage But with the passage of time she began to lose her leverage
A bottle after another she was hastily moving her eyes Desperately seeking the sight where that majestic liquid lies
In irresistible covetousness, she began to curse her fate Why this lust? Why this need? Why the heaven has closed its gate
This overpowering desolation was making her stab her heart To kill this lust, to kill this desire, she prayed to the thou art
Why do you pour this yearning when the fulfillment is beyond my reach? Why am I left behind when you fulfil the needs of each?
She clutched her head in her hands as the tears form a stream Some footsteps, she heard, coming from behind and that rhythm began to shatter this dream
She stood up staggering and hid in that weeping state Those footsteps progressed near the shelf and placed a new leftover bottle crate
When the voice faded, she peaked a little while wiping that tear stream Her heart began to skip the beat and the sight caused her eyes to gleam
A half-drunk bottle of luscious liquid was staring at her face With heavy footsteps and lustrous eyes, she walked towards it at a slow pace
With all her might, she grasps that bottle and placed it near her lips She closed her eyes to relish the essence as she took the sips
Her heart began praying for that person who left the bottle half filled For God grants what the pure heart has willed © 2016 Syed Musab Raza |
