Love or Infatuation

Love or Infatuation

A Poem by Glee

You get weak in the knees at the very sight of them

Your blood rushes when you look at them

Your heart stops when you touch them

You fall for someone but cannot tell

Is it love or infatuation

How shall you tell

How can you tell

What is love

But an illusion

A delusion of the mind

A sense of devotion and emotion

A type of fondness but with no motion

What is love

But a figment of the imagination

What we feel for our brothers

What we feel for our sisters

What we feel for our fathers

What we feel for our lovers

Is that true love

Then why do we part

Why would we do away with them and don’t call

We know that they are alright

And that’s enough for us to get along

To go on as if they do not exist

What is love

But a mingling of chemical compounds

A burst of hormones that turns us on

Makes us lose our selves

Lose our minds

And lose our way

But only for the moment

For then we will part

And act as if nothing ever happened

Nothing ever came true

Nothing had ever come between us

That can’t be love

That can’t be true love

You don’t get over someone that you love that easily

May be something else
