Off Put

Off Put

A Poem by Glee

Passing respectful smiles between each other

Exchanging friendly wishes between one another

Sharing formal greetings between each other

We keep a healthy distance between each other

But it’s clear we both like each other

You always stare at me, I’ll never know why

You always get dressed up for me, how I could I tell why

Sometimes you strip so I could look at you, I’ll never know why

I’ll never know what’s on your mind

Shall I make the first move

How could I make the first move

I wouldn’t want a harassment case brought up against me

I wouldn’t want to bring out a dirty scandal that could ruin my reputation

For I’m a gentleman

A true gentleman

I could never ravish you

For I have no idea what’s on your mind

Sometimes we fight

Sometimes we play

Sometimes we laugh

And smile

And cry

But that’s just it

We could be nothing more than just friends

Because you’re a woman

And women never make the first move

Its not lady like

Its not curtly like

But I know, just as always

Tomorrow you will be married to some wealthy man

Someone you hardly felt the same about

And be having lots of children with him

And be planning your future with him

But that doesn’t matter

That doesn’t matter now

That cannot matter at all

How could I make the first move

It would cost me a broken heart

What more could I ask

But to be your friend

You made it clear already

Your love is worth more than an arm and a leg
