Stereotype

Stereotype

A Poem by Glee

Weddings

Champagne and flowers

Bands and Speeches

Laughter and smiles

Music and dancing

Glitter and glamour

It’s a wedding day again

Another person married

Another person taken

Where two become one

As it was meant to be

Giving their hearts to each other

And promising that it’ll be forever

But can you hear it?

Can you see it?

The church bells are ringing

It’s a wedding day again

Filled with glitter and glamour

And two become one

As it was meant to be

Giving their hearts to each other

Pledging their love forever

I wonder

Do they have to be from the same background?

Must they share the same race?

Must they belong to one class?

Does he have to be older than she?

Does he have to be taller than she?

Dees he have to be richer than she?

Does she even have to be a she and he a he?

Why all these labels?

These marks that differentiate us from the rest

Are we not united by the same thing?

Love

If its their love that matters, and nothing else

Then why all these labels
