Natural SelectionA Poem by Glee
Apes come of age Males equal to females Hungry courtship in the jungle Males compete for the few Each one for himself Who will be the chosen ones? Fierce battles ensue The weak ones lose, Tired, Wounded, Surrender Bow out Banned from the troupe for all eternity The strong ones survive Dominate Rule The alpha males have exclusive mating privileges now For their strong blood will ensure the continual of the species For there were many males and just a handful were needed What happens, I wonder To the males who are weak The helpless romantics who are banned from the troupe What is to become of them, I wonder? Those that still have their pride left will live a lie Live alone Rouge outcasts Waiting Hoping Begging For that one weaker moment, That one chance to be accepted back in the troupe But they will live lonely lives Consumed by endless illusions, Delusions Dreams of a better life A better world that only exists in the abyss But the real world is a jungle And survival for the fittest must apply Oh gentle soul, Love your fellow man, Don’t fight him Touch your fellow man, Don’t chuck him Live with your fellow man, Don’t evict him Let your guard down Then you will realize, That you are not alone in this giant jungle You are not by yourself The laws of nature must apply That is why we are the way we are We may not posses the privilege of reproducing to the next generation But we do posses the blessing of sharing our love for all eternity How could we not be free to love © 2009 Glee |
