Money

Money

A Poem by Glee

They call it the root of all evil

They say it causes men to do bad things

And drives women to do things they don’t want to do

God made man

Man made money

Money made man run mad

But even then nobody ever rejected it

Even then nobody ever rebuked it

Even then nobody ever shunned it

Anything, but money could never be gross

Men take on huge burdens, all but in its name

Women will bear all you have to give, just as long as you assure them it’s there

Cities and castles are built

Lives and homes are saved

Hopes and lives are raised

All but in the name of money

Money truly does make the world go round

For it is the universal language

So you say you want this

You can have it

It’s yours

But first you must pay for it

You think it’s free

Nothings free

Dear comrade

I hear what you’re saying and I totally agree

I listen to what you’re asking and I say it can be done

It can happen

It will happen

It must happen

But how about the money?

Master Comrade

I hear what you’re saying and I totally agree

I listen to what you’re asking and I say it can be done

It can happen

It will happen

It must happen

But how about the money?

Show me the color of your money

For then we can crack a deal

And make this work

Show me the color of your honey

For then we can talk business

And make this happen

Show me the color of your cherry

For then we can close this deal

And talk no more

Dear comrade

Anything you ask

But first

Show me the color of your money
