I was lost

I was empty

I was hopeless

 

But then you came by

Like a chance encounter

A momentary streak of luck

 

And you were there

My rock

My hope

My wand

My angel

 

You showed me the way

You made my heart dance

With just a few words

In a single moment

You could turn my world around

 

You taught me to dance

Showed me how to sing

Taught me to make love

Showed me how to write

Made me laugh

Made me smile

 

You brought out the best in me

Now I can not believe it

You’re gone

 

I tried hard

For I’d always hoped that one day

I could make you feel the way I felt

Make your heart dance with joy

Make you see me in a different way

The way I see you

 

But what I’ve done to describe how you make me feel!

 

I’ve written a thousand poems

But none seems to even get close

Could this be my last romantic poem

 

I’ve dated lots of people

But none of them even comes close

 

I’ve traveled across the world

But I can’t find anything to describe you

For then I could bring it to you and show you how I feel

 

A diamond wouldn’t even start to cover it

A flower not even close

Love, not quite

This can’t be love

This is deeper

This is a bond far greater

For even love has its ups and downs

 

You always said I should find something I love

Do it

Go out and live it

 

But now I taste a cup of juice

And the drink is salty

I bite a ripe apple

And the fruit is sour

 

Everything just seems bitter sweet

For I have lost my taste for sweetness

I have lost my sense of sourness

 

The verve that you once brought me is now gone

Forever

 

When you look at me

You see nothing

When you see me

You feel nothing

 

Just act

Play it out till we get there

But you’re not having it anymore

 

You know what it means to love

To hold dear

To desire

To lose

You’re a woman

A real woman

I know I need a woman

But that woman is you

 

My world comes crushing down

Breaking up into tatters

 

I lick my sores

I drink my tears

 

You’re gone

Never to come back

 

How can that be

 

The reality starts to sink in

You’re gone

How lovely.

How beautiful, "You made my heart dance". Yet sad at the same time, "My world comes crushing down." Love is beyond words, the happiness cannot be explained and the pain cannot be expressed.
