Embarrassment in the hall

Embarrassment in the hall

A Poem by Glee

Dinner tables decorated
Flowers tenderly woven
Napkins nicely nurtured
Plates placed in a pattern
Guests start to glide
Adorned to their dinner dresses
Matched to their makeup
Marked in glittery jewelry
Tied to their ties
Set to their coats
They paced with grace
They mingled with magnificence
Who would join the gentry

Plates glazed to their names
Glasses sparkling to their brightness
Raising to their toasts

Here goes to thee
Lets hear from thee
Come out thee

The floodlights are on you
The eyes are all at you
Cheers as they cheer
Deafening silence is all around you
What shall you say

Wine swallowed down in a gallop
Spills all over your suit
My you're in stains
Tiding up with a napkin
Stains turn to a mess

You're in a hazy puzzle
Too much to guzzle
That fool can't see your mood
Time for your exit strategy

Heading out to the bathroom
Dinner dress caught in a door nob
Tares up to your waist
Where shall you go
Or shall you wait and show
Time for your exit strategy

Nervous like a wreck
Puzzled in a panic
You tighten your jaws
And arise suddenly
Dragging the table up with you
Spilling all over the audience
Cheer turns to ewe
Glances turn to stares

This is not happening
You must compose yourself
You must be strong

Tiptoeing to the stand
You're in a hazy puzzle
Too much to guzzle
Spiky heels
You slip and fall
You're in the spotlight
Dinner turned into a nightmare
Ewe turns into laughter

Now is not the time
You must be strong
Picked up in a pile
Finally you made it to the stand

You're at the spotlight now
All eyes on you
Oh no
Your speech is in your purse
