Nothing means a thingA Poem by GleeYou dream big, you live large You drive sports cars, you fly places You raise fortresses, you build mansions You throw parties, you marry women But you’ll still be wanting more The more you drink, the more you thirst The more you eat, the more you hunger Again and again the cycle goes on What’s the point Nothing means a thing You spend late nights working You spend endless weekends away You lose sleep You lose peace You lose focus from the things that matter You spend time from your loved ones And compensate by throwing money at them What’s the point Nothing means a thing But see the peasant fella He walks to work He tends his garden And fishes at the lake He lives the simple life But carries all his burden He takes care of his family And watches his daughter grow He admires you in magazines But he’s content How different are you You’ll both end up in the ground from once you came Except you'll have a fancier tomb stone For the river goes round and round and ends up in the same place Nothing means a thing © 2018 GleeAuthor's Note
