Emancipated

Emancipated

A Poem by Glee

I see you

Through the window in your eyes

I can look deep within your soul

And all I see is pain

Always looked down upon

You were the little one

The innocent one

The fragile one

The one picked on

But I see something else as well

A burst of enlightenment

Rekindling a will to fight back

A desire for revenge

You can rise above the rest

Nothing can stop you now

Finally you’re empowered

You are free to do as you like

But what shall you do with these rights

Shall you use them for love

Or shall you use them for hate

Watch it

Hate could kill you

Emancipated woman

But why are you so assertive

Persistent and aggressive

Why are you so defensive

Secretive and protective

You must always have your way

And you are always right

But when will you let me in

Let me share on your pain for I could ease the burden

Independent woman

Will you accept to be loved and to love back

Who knows what could become of us

If you just let me in

Must you win every time

When will you get that innocence back

That faith back

That trust back

Will you let someone love you

And accept to love back

Or will the fear consume you
