What is beauty?

The word "beauty." What does it even mean? What is so significant about
that particular word? Beauty is a word that can make or break ones
self-esteem. Can the beauty mean it is a lady who wears heavy makeup to
cover up her blemishes that scar her not-so-perfect face? Is beauty only
what people see on the outside? How can someone be beautiful if she
covers her exterior, pretending to be something she's not when her
interior is apparently the main beauty? Society holds such a high
standard on this word. You have to be flawless and have perfect, smooth,
non blemished skin. Amazing personality and skinny bodies. To be
accepted into this society we have to be this kind of "beauty." Just to
be accepted. Beauty. It is not a great and ideal meaning, it is a burden
to become it.

This was among my first poems that I decided to write. It may not be as good or make any sense to be honest, but please keep in mind that this is something from the heart. Also, if you think it needs more work please let me know I am more than willing to hear any suggestions. Thank You all!

So true... the beauty in this world is flawed. I think that we have lost the meaning of the word, that somehow we have contorted it into something you have to paint on. Beauty is inside.
This is a beautiful thought provoking poem.
