War

War

This is a war.

There’s violence, guns, and blood.

In far away countries; with foreign troops,

Parading down their streets.

This is a war.

There are words, actions, and emotions.

In school, home, and online; with once-been friends,

Fighting all of the time.

In this war,

I am caught in the middle.

Forced to pick sides; of the people I’ve come to know.

I remain neutral, and watch from the sidelines,

As the fighting goes on.

Good job on placing in the Best Poems contest Rosaalyn! I still really love this piece, it deserved to get an award!

There's complete emotion in this. The truth in which you speak flows through your repetition and rhythm. The lack of rhyme shows the rawness in which you speak of. Well done.

GO SWITZERLAND!

I know what this is about, and being caught between sides is a crappy place to be. No one can make you choose, so don't. It helps to know both sides of the war. But I've been in your place before, and let me say that it's best to be a Swiss.
