10000. A Sleeping Beauty SonnetA Chapter by Ray NicholsA narrative poem based on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.**In Slumber's Embrace: A Sonnet of Sleeping Beauty** In days of yore, when kingdoms rose and fell, A tale of beauty spun through twilight's gleam, A princess cursed, her fate a darkened spell, In slumber deep, she wandered through a dream. Behold the lavish halls where silence reigned, With tapestries that whispered of her grace, Yet thorns encased her heart, forever chained, As time, relentless, wore a patient face. The fairest gifts bestowed at her sweet birth, A curse, an envy, masked in joy’s disguise, The spinning wheel, a symbol of her worth, Yet pricked her finger, sealed her fate in sighs. But love, a knight with courage pure and bright, Awoke her soul with true love's tender light.
