1111. A Cinderella SonnetA Chapter by Ray NicholsA narrative poem based on the fairy tale of CinderellaIn shadows deep where whispers softly weave, A tale unfolds of love and loss, of grace, In cinders cold, where hopes begin to cleave, A maiden fair, with dreams no time can erase. Cinderella, clad in rags, despised, By kin so cruel, her heart held captive tight, Yet in the night, her spirit, unrecognized, Dared to believe in magic’s gentle light. A pumpkin glows, transformed by wand’s embrace, The mice, now steeds, take flight upon the air, With glassy slippers, fate shall not erase, She ventures forth, a beauty rare and fair. At ball, she dances, lost in love’s sweet trance, Yet midnight calls, and dreams must take their chance.
